About the Dealer

The Roberts family has a longstanding history of serving the automotive needs of Middle Tennessee.  It would be a long journey for the Roberts Family before they would end up at their current location in Columbia, TN.  Starting in 1945, 'Mr. Clyde' Roberts began the family business by opening a Mobil Service Station & Garage with his sons Lyndal and Bay on the corner of West Commerce and Third Avenue in Lewisburg, TN (shown below).




Shortly after the opening of the garage, Lyndal left the business to pursue other ventures.  During the years of 1950-1955 the Roberts father-son team along with Stanley Thompson formed a used car business next to the old Baxter Garage on First Avenue in Lewisburg, TN.  In 1956, after 'Mr. Clyde's' retirement, Bay Roberts formed the Roberts Motor Company out of a building at 2nd Avenue also in Lewisburg, TN (shown below).





The Roberts family, however, was not meant to stay in this location for long.  Just three years after moving to 2nd Avenue, the Roberts family moved their business to 920 Verona Avenue (shown below).  The building cost $12,700 and came standard with a shaded area under the tree shown below equipped with a school bus seat where many customers would be seen receiving sales consultation.





The Roberts family would keep their franchise in that location for many years and in 1971 aquired the Toyota franchise.  It would remain there for 30 years until it's move to its current location at 1027 Nashville Hwy, Columbia, Tennessee in September of 2001.   

Despite their humble beginnings, the Roberts family has been serving the automotive needs for more than 60 years and has recently received a rating of an A+ from the Better Business Bureau of Tennessee.  Roberts Toyota of Columbia strives to meet the individual needs of each and every customer.  The Roberts family has been in the automotive business for more than 60 years and we would be happy for you to come by and find out for yourself how we've stayed in business throughout the years with great customer service and a knowledgeable and friendly staff.
