Toyota Corolla Has Become World's Best-Selling Vehicle of All Time

At one time it was the Ford Model-T, then it was the BMW Beetle, and then it was the Ford F-Series of pickup trucks. Now, it's the Toyota Corolla. What exactly are we talking about? The world's best-selling vehicle ever, of course! The Corolla recently passed the Ford F-Series in overall sales with an impressive total 37.5 million units sold- approximately 2.5 million ahead of the F-Series. (So, the Corolla has been ahead for some time, but it's just been officially announced!)

The Volkswagen Beetle, for its part, has slipped to fourth place at 23.5 million units. It was recently overthrown for third place by the Volkswagen Golf, which has sold 27.5 million units overall. The Ford Escort is in fifth place with 20 million units to its name.

The Toyota Corolla has been in production since 1966 (1968 in the U.S.) and is now in its tenth generation. The Corolla is known for being the ideal economy car due to its fantastic fuel economy ratings, its dependability, and its low price point. The base-level 2012 Toyota Corolla sedan has a starting MSRP of only $16,130 and comes in three trim levels: base, LE, and S. The LE adds power options most drivers wish for, and the S variant adds some sporty touches, like a rear spoiler.
