2017 Toyota RAV4 vs 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

Crossover models are a hot commodity in the automotive world today, and it makes perfect sense when you think about it. No longer are drivers forced to drive a gas-guzzling behemoth if they want to get behind the wheel of something bigger and more spacious than a coupe or sedan. Innovations and advancements in engineering have made it possible to drive an SUV that is actually fuel efficient.

Crossovers bridge the gap between full-size SUVs and their smaller cousins in the vehicular world, and it is no wonder they are so popular these days. Offering up plentiful power under the hood, ample seating for passengers, and a lot of cargo space to carry a wide variety of different items, they are a versatile vehicle for people from all walks of life. With so many options out there vying for your attention, which one is right for you? We are here to help with a comparison of the 2017 Toyota RAV4 vs the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.

More horsepower and cargo capacity in the RAV4

One of the main reasons for purchasing an SUV or crossover is the cargo capacity. You buy an SUV because you need the space to fill it with grocery bags, soccer equipment, and numerous other items. Whether it is for daily routines or weekend adventures, cargo capacity is important. When the rear seats are folded down in the 2017 RAV4, you have as much as 73.4 cubic feet of room to work with. That significantly exceeds the 49.5 cubic feet of maximum cargo space found in the 2017 Outlander Sport. If you can't fit everything you need for the trip in the back, you can tow some of it behind you, since the 2017 RAV4 can tow as much as 1,500 pounds behind it. The 2017 Outlander Sport, on the other hand, cannot tow any weight  behind it.

This is made possible partially from the base 176-horsepower engine of the 2017 RAV4, which offers significantly more power than the base engine found in the 2017 Outlander Sport, even though the RAV4 gets about the same fuel efficiency in the process. The numbers speak for themselves. More power, more towing, and more cargo capacity are major reasons to buy a crossover SUV in the first place, and the 2017 Toyota RAV4 has you covered in those areas.
