2022 Toyota Tundra: A New Year a New Design
After a long wait, the Toyota Tundra finally receives a full redesign for the 2022 model year. Since it had been 15 years since the vehicle had seen a major update, the new features offered are welcomed with open arms. With new trims, engines, and updated features, the Tundra is a full-size truck that's going to be hard to pass up.
What’s New for 2022?
This year, the Tundra receives a much-needed redesign, and with it comes a new top-of-the-line Capstone trim level. This trim features 22-inch wheels, flashy chrome trims, and a full suite of updated features.
Highlights of the 2022 Toyota Tundra
Performance
Coming equipped on most of the trims is a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with an impressive 389 horsepower. This engine is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission and comes with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Standard in higher trims and optional in others is the same engine but one that's attached to a battery-electric hybrid system and produces 437 hp.
Technology
Just as the powertrains are new, so is the cabin's technology. An eight-inch touchscreen now comes standard, but that can be upgraded to a 14-inch version if drivers choose. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also come standard, but higher trims offer a panoramic sunroof, heated front & rear seats, sound-reducing front windows, and more.
Safety Features
With this new upgrade, the Tacoma now offers Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. This adds a suite of safety features, including pre-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and a lane-keeping system. Other more advanced are also available but only in higher trims.
